Heather honey comes from the widespread Mediterranean evergreen Erica manipuliflora. This belongs to the family Ericaceae. There are two types of Erika honey, each with different characteristics, depending on the harvest season: fall and spring harvest. The Erika is one of the most important honey in Greece.

Heather honey has a characteristic odor and taste that appeals particularly to the discerning consumer; He is dark and kirstallisiert quickly. After Kristalliasation heather honey takes like a reddish appearance.
